Edwards Island

Just 3 miles & 2 bridges south of the Sarasota Sailing Squadron is a little known destination for a mini cruise, you could do a lot worse than Edwards Island.  If you have any doubts click here.

There is 23 feet of authorized clearance at high tide under the draw at the Siesta Key bridge, so your WindRiders should be able to get under without worrying about an opening.

Check this island out.  You won’t be disappointed.

Foilers

Mike McGarry and Don Wigston will be bringing the new Sam Bradfield designed trimaran hydro foil “Osprey” to see how it does against your fast beach catamarans.  This state-of-the-art carbon 18 footer is brand new and according to Jim Brown’s review of the boat in the current issue of Professional Boatbuilder magazine, it will fly in only 7 knots of wind.  I can’t wait to see it flying around Sarasota Bay.

Stiletto Sailors Ahoy!

This Saturday, September 29, 1000hrs – 1300hrs: Stiletto Measuring event at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron.
To measure parts that have been modified since the last time we weighed and measured – 2007 at the 1st Buzzelli, yes, the year Bob died.
For some, such as Iguana with her lengthened mast and a new suit, there is a lot of measuring, for most, it’s just a sail or two.

Only modified boats and boats that do not have a current PHRF certificate need measuring at this time.

We will also be prepared to take measurements at the regatta, if needed.
